From Proto-Albanian*apsera o *asper(a), representing a contamination of *aps, reflected in Greek ἄψ(ἄps, “backwards”), a variant of Proto-Indo-European*apo- 'off, away', with Proto-Indo-European*apero-. Cognate to Sanskrit अपर(ápara, “posterior, later, following”), Gothic 𐌰𐍆𐌰𐍂(afar, “after”)[1] .
