superdomain (plural superdomains)

  1. (taxonomy) A taxonomic grouping above domain.
  2. (biochemistry) Two or more conserved domains of nominally unrelated origin that appear in the same order in diverse proteins and are inherited as a single structural/functional unit.
  3. (Internet, rare) The domain to which a subdomain belongs.
