1. to burn; to be consumed by fire

   Dom się pali.

   The house is burning.

2. of light: to be on

   Dziadek jeszcze nie śpi, widać że w jego pokoju pali się światło.

   Grandpa is still up, you can see that the light is on in his room.

3. to be eager [+ do (genitive) = for something]

   Nowi rekruci palili się do walki.

   The new recruits were eager to fight.
