lụt
From Proto-Vietic *p-luːt ("inonder, to flood"), possibly from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ləc ~ ləəc ~ laac ("to be flooded, to sink") or *ləp ~ lup ~ luup ~ luəp? ("to immerse", Pre-Proto-Mon-Khmer *ləbləb > *bləp). Compare Chut blut¹ ("to flood"), Khmer លិច (lɨc, “to sink, to submerge, to overflow, to flood”).
