From ยา ‎(yaa, “drug”) +‎ เสพ ‎(sèep, “to consume”) +‎ ติด ‎(dtìt, “to be addicted; to be stuck”); literally "drug [which is] consumed and addicted to", "consumable and addictive drug", or "drug [to which a person may be] addicted [upon] consumption".
