Usage notes

Although معاف کیجئے ‎(mu'āf kījie) and other معاف ‎(mu'āf) + imperative combinations are often translated as "sorry" or "excuse me", it should be noted that افسوس ‎(afsos), in the form مجھے افسوس ہے (mujhe afsos hai) as well as the Anglicism سوری ‎(saurī) are also commonly used.
