1. After, at a later time than.

Usage notes

• This preposition is somewhat more formal than the synonymous אחרי ‎(akharéi-).
• Unlike English after, לאחר cannot introduce a bare clause; rather, the subordinator ש־ ‎(she-) must be inserted.
• Unlike English after, לאחר cannot stand alone as an adverbial; rather, a construction such as לאחר זאת ‎(l'akhár zot, “after that”) must be used.
